Feeding Time!

Katherine ate all of her lunch the other day, so she got to have a bowl of peach crisp for dessert. Sarah, on the other hand, chose to ignore her lunch, despite the temptation of dessert. And even though Sarah wasn't supposed to enjoy the treat, Katherine felt the need to "sneak" bites behind my back to her sister. I was lucky enough to get this shot....though after they were discovered, Sarah ran off to the living room! :) I love Katherine's mouth....cracks me up every time!

Computer Time!

I had some reading to do this morning (my semester started yesterday) so I told the girls they could either play in their rooms or watch a movie. To my delight, they chose to play in their rooms. Every so often, it would get very quiet, so I would get up to check on them...you just never know what they will get into next! Fortunately, this time it meant they were both playing on their learning computers! They were so involved in that, they didn't even notice me taking pictures. Katherine came out shortly after I took the pictures and let me know she won the number game. Smart cookie. I asked Sarah if she won her game too, and she said, "I don't know, but I saw an elephant." :)

Sarah, the Blonde Beauty

I am kicking myself for forgetting the camera on Wednesday when I took the girls to the hair salon. They each got their hair trimmed because it was starting to look more out of control than normal! Sarah's didn't get much length taken off, but she did get a lot of layers. It really helped thin out the bulk in her hair, much to my surprise. Plus, this morning proved it's easier to find our way through the bed head now!! :)

Katherine and Sarah just love swimming since their lessons with Elizabeth and Joe (thank you again!!). Here are some pictures from yesterday evening. Katherine was very proud of herself, and even though the pictures don't show it well, she jumped off the steps, spun around, AND swam on her back! :) She's getting to be a pro!

Putting for Birdie!

Well...not really, but it would have been nice! The girls rode along for 9 holes of golf yesterday afternoon. We have a small putter, so Katherine helped us finish off on the greens. She loved it! And, in true Katherine form, she didn't want to take help and decided she would figure it out on her own. :) It was a beautiful day, the course looked great, and the company was wonderful. :)

A Trip To The Zoo -- Mommy's Favorite

As we made our way out of the zoo, we walked down a path surrounded by green trees and plants. Out of nowhere, I saw this flower, and I just had to take a picture of it. There were a few other buds but this was the only one open - I thought it was beautiful!

A Trip To The Zoo -- Safari Animals

The giraffes and zebras were Katherine's favorite animals. She waited patiently all day to see them, and they were the last stop on our little adventure. Savoring the moment, she stood and watched each of them for a long time. After watching the zebras for several minutes, she looked at me and said, "Mom, did you know they look like horses with stripes? ...do you think we can ride one?" I had to tell her no, and she hung her head a bit, but perked back up when one started running around and braying!

Katherine begged me for a train ride, so I finally gave in and bought us some tickets. I think this was one of their favorite parts of our trip today! They loved it! Katherine liked the tunnels, and Sarah liked the bridges. I liked watching their faces light up with each new discovery!

A Trip To The Zoo -- Big Fish and Dark Caves

We wandered into a dark cave, so the girls explored and watched the big fish swim around. It was cool and quiet here, and since we had been in the sun and walking for a while, we stayed here for a long time. Katherine fell in love with one fish - she asked me if we could take him home! :)

A Trip To The Zoo -- Meet the Elephants!

The girls got to take a last minute trip to the zoo today, but it sure was a fun one! Sarah especially loved the elephants -- she liked trying to talk to them (but they didn't listen, she told me later).

Dress Up Time!

Grandma brought back two big bags of great dress up clothes from Pennsylvania -- the girls LOVED them!! Here are some pictures of their favorite new outfits! As you can tell, Sarah stuck with just two dresses (one was a perfect "spin dress" as she calls it), but Katherine was more than happy to try on several. Girls will be girls. :)
