Whoa! Bed Head!

Sarah woke up this morning with some CRAZY hair! It was toooo funny not to take a picture!

Not To Be Outdone...

Katherine, as usual, needed to have her picture taken too, since Sarah was having hers taken. I have to admit, she looks pretty cute in her leggings and penguin shirt. :)

The Pebbles Hairdo!

Miss Abbie was over last night to play with the girls and she did Sarah's hair in pigtails that sat high on her head. I didn't get a great picture of it, but it is good enough to give you an idea of how stinkin' cute she was in her new 'do!! :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Girl Talk

The girls were laying on the floor the other day with their feet propped up on the fireplace. They were just chatting with each other. :) It was so cute to listen to them talk back and forth, like best friends. I love that they can spend time like this together - it's so neat to watch their relationship grow and develop. At the moment I took these pictures, they were discussing who would make the better pink or purple princesses and why. Oh -- and just for the record, Katherine would make the better pink one because her earrings are pink, and Sarah would be the better purple princess because that is her favorite color. :)

Practice Makes Perfect

We brought back a toy vacuum cleaner from Nana's house (I think it came from Aunt Deb), and the girls went right to work "cleaning" their rooms. I told them to get used to it, because someday they will be using the real thing! It's never to early for housework training!

Parade Time!

There was a short Halloween parade in town while we were at Nana's house. Children from the town were able to walk down the street in their costumes to the park, where they would be judged. The girls were excited to see the firetruck, ambulance, and cop car -- but they especially loved seeing the costumes and getting candy (because they needed more you know!). :)

Halloween Goodies!

Nana must enjoy giving the girls a sugar high, because as soon as we were done with our cupcake time, we moved on to Halloween goodies time! Here are the girls digging out all of their candy, crackers, cookies, etc. from their buckets.

Katherine: Having Her Cake and Eating It Too...but not quite as messy as her sister!

Sarah: Having Her Cake and Eating It Too

Decorating Cupcakes with Nana!

We visited Nana and PaPa's house this past weekend, where Nana made chocolate cupcakes. The girls got to decorate them with Halloween picks and candy corn. They probably ate a lot more than they put on the cupcakes though! Then again, we always know that Nana's house means lots of treats. :)

Watching the Parade...Indoors...

The girls were sick, sick, sick the entire weekend. We had planned on visiting Nana and Papa, but because of the ear and viral infections, we were stuck indoors. Here in town, they were celebrating the annual Fall Festival, which always includes a Saturday morning parade. Unfortunately, the weather was much too cool for the girls to be outside, so they got to watch the parade go by the house from inside. I felt so bad making them stay inside, but Katherine, bless her heart, said to me, "Mommy, this is the best parade EVER!" I should have known she would come up with a way to make me feel better. :)

Jack-O-Lantern Fun!

Katherine joined me on a trip to the grocery store and begged me for a pumpkin. The price was right, and the idea of her sticking her hand into it to pull out the "guts" was enough for me to pick one up! When we got it home, I cut off the top for her to help me make our first jack-o-lantern! She didn't want much to do with the insides, but she did help pull out one good handful. In the end, the girls loved the jack-o-lantern; they will sit by the door and watch it outside for a solid 30 minutes... too cute!

Reading Time!

Katherine came out of Sarah's room (where the bookshelf is located with all of the children's books) and Sarah snapped, "That is MY book!" Katherine snapped back, "Well, I am going to read it!" Then Sarah replied, "But it's MINE!" (Don't you love that stage?? Mine, mine, mine...) I half expected to watch another World War unfold, but then, out of nowhere, Katherine asked very sweetly, "What if I read it to you Sarah?" to which Sarah said just as sweetly, "Okay!" They both skipped off to the living room where they have been reading to each other for at least 20 minutes.
Lately, we've been working on what behavior would be best for them (listen vs. ignore, talk kindly vs. talk sassy, etc.), and it seems to be spilling over into how they treat each other. Don't get me wrong -- we have our fair share of mini-explosions throughout the day, but making them stop and think about what they are doing (and the consequences!) seems to be working... Let's hope it lasts!!

Baking Cookies

Grandma brought along some pumpkin cookies to bake, and Katherine sat and watched them in the oven the entire time! Needless to say, she also helped herself to several after they were done baking! :)

Candids (Little Red)

And, of course, Katherine! You might notice she has in new earrings -- Grandma took her shopping for some, and she picked out the set with guitars. She couldn't wait to get them changed!

Candids (Goldilocks)

Grandpa and Grandma Jansen (or "Jackson" as Katherine often says) came to visit us this week, and we had so much fun with them! On Friday, we all ate lunch at the golf course, and Katherine and Sarah were just bouncing off the walls! I guess all the excitement of having people over and getting to eat out were was just too much for two little girls. Even so, we got snapped some fun pictures of the girls and got some with Grandpa and Grandma too! Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of Grandma and Sarah, but Grandma has a few really cute ones on her camera...maybe if I can get a hold of those, I'll get them posted too!

Pretty Girls

The girls wanted me to take their pictures before I put away the camera, and I was happy to do it. Sarah was, of course, without clothes (as usual), and Katherine asked for several takes. Here are their best shots. :)

Tap Dancing is for Amatuers

Why tap dance when you can be a ballerina?? Katherine is unbelievably good at dancing on her toes -- it's almost freaky the way she can dance on them! Here are some "toe" shots...she really loves dancing like a ballerina. On a side note: I tried it. It hurt. Be warned.
