Fourth and Final Leg of the Birthday Marathon!

Sunday was a very tiring day for EVERYONE! We left our house around 7am to get to the store and to Nana and PaPa's house in time to prepare lunch for our birthday guests. Katherine was excited from the time she stepped foot in the door! Fortunately, there were still two Easter baskets from Uncle Bob and Aunt Lucinda that the girls hadn't received yet, so that was great in holding them over until the cake and presents part of the day! Nana made Katherine the cutest little carousel cake (she is STILL talking about this morning!), and Katherine received a lot of really great gifts! That, of course, was her favorite part. :) She got a Thumbelina doll and movie, new clothes, outdoor toys, books, puzzles, and even a gift card to the bookstore! It didn't take long on our ride home for both Katherine and Sarah to fall asleep. And even last night through the night, Katherine was up begging to play with her new toys! Fortunately I was able to calm her enough to get her back to sleep, but she was up bright and early playing in her room. It was a great birthday week for Katherine!!

Third Leg and No Sign of Being Tired!

Katherine had a small birthday party on her actual birthday since we were going to Nana and PaPa's house the next day for a bigger party. We went to a local bar and grill for some chicken strips and french fries, and Katherine also tasted some fried green beans and toasted ravioli! She had carrot cake again (by request) and got a new bicycle with training wheels!! She also got Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and some really fun birthday cards (she LOVES cards!). After we had cake, we spent time outside for her to try out her new bike and watched a little bit of her new movie. It was a pretty simple night, but she enjoyed it nonetheless!

Second Leg of the Birthday Marathon!

Katherine received a package from Grandma and Grandpa Walters yesterday and she LOVED the birthday gifts inside. I thought about making her wait until Saturday to open them, but thought it might be so much more fun to just have surprises every day instead. She got a VERY cute new outfit (she didn't want to pose in it for me to get a picture though) and a new Barbie. She also got a very fun birthday card that had a crown that we could punch out and fit for her head. Indeed, Katherine is quite the birthday "princess." As a matter of fact, while we were out to eat last night, she had an eyelash on her face. I told her that I would get it for if she would hold still (a challenge for both of the girls lately), and she asked me if she could make a wish and blow it away. I said "sure" and placed it on my finger. Her heartfelt wish before she blew it away was, "Oh please, please, please, I wish that I could be a princess forever..."

Classic Katherine. Classic cute.

First Leg of the Birthday Marathon!

Katherine got to celebrate her birthday a little bit early with Daddy, and she had a lot of fun doing it! She got to pick out her own cake from the cake counter, and chose the one with the carrot on top. I had to chuckle at the irony of that. She loved the icing (cream cheese), and was tickled that she got a "4" candle and that Daddy and Sarah serenaded her with "Happy Birthday." (She has always loved being the center of attention!).

She also got to pick out her birthday gift (and Sarah got to benefit from this too). She found a Sleeping Beauty play set and was interested in nothing else. Sarah, on the other hand, pulled a typical "Sarah" move. She has TWO Little Mermaid dolls that are exactly the same...yet when she got to pick out what she wanted, she chose Ariel again. Daddy tried to convince her to choose another princess, but she would have nothing to do with it. Ariel it was!

They also got to pick out an outfit each. I think they both look perfect in them - and I even made the comment that even I want dresses like theirs!

PLUS, they got to blow bubbles and play at the park!! How fun!!

It was a great weekend for the girls and Daddy - and just round one of Katherine's birthday marathon! :)

You Wanna Go Where Everybody Knows Your Name..

The girls LOVE the Barbie movie I got them a couple of months ago. It is called "The Diamond Castle" in which two friends, Alexa and Brianna, save the music of the world from an evil muse. Quite the storyline indeed.

Anyway, Katherine and Sarah love to role play and use that storyline and the characters from the movie as their inspiration. Katherine takes the part of Alexa (the hero, so typical!) and Sarah of Brianna (the sidekick of sorts...again, so typical!).

Lately, however, Sarah has been having somewhat of an identity crisis. She often calls herself Brianna, and when called Sarah she corrects us, "My name is Brianna." Sure, it was cute, and not surprising when you consider how much they role play.

While out the other night, though, she said to a stranger, "Hi, my name is Brianna." Then again, when asked what her name was, she coolly replied, "I'm Brianna."

Exit Sarah. Enter Brianna.

Maybe Brianna is interested in potty training.....

Girl vs Dog

What is the difference between a girl and a dog? Well....you can always ask Katherine.

I went to class on Thursday, and Katherine tagged along and spent the morning in day care. On our way home, after she inhaled a Hi-C from McDonalds, she let me know she needed to use the bathroom. Fortunately, we were only about 5 minutes from home, so I knew she would be able to hold it that long. So I told her, "Katherine, we are just a few minutes from home, it won't be much longer." To that, she replied, "But Mom, I just can't wait." So I suggested, "Well, I can pull over and you can go potty in the grass."

Her reaction was priceless - you would have thought I suggested something offensive by the tone of her voice.

"Mom, I am NOT a dog!" (her look was fierce and incredibly serious)

"What do you mean Katherine? I know you're not a dog."

"Dogs go potty in the grass, NOT little girls! And I am a little girl, NOT a dog!"

"Oh...so you want to wait then?"

"Yes."

Then I overheard her talking the doll that she brought along for the car ride..."I don't go potty in the grass. That is so gross..."

SUCH a girly girl :)

Our Easter Egg Hunt!

The girls enjoyed hunting for eggs in the yard today. Fortunately I hadn't put too much out (though it was probably still MUCH more than they needed) so it didn't take long - the weather was far too cool for a long and adventerous hunt. Either way, they have plenty of goodies to last them, and a couple fun bath toys too!

Sarah's Hunt

Sarah's hunt was slow and steady. She was actually more interested in eating the candy inside the eggs than she was in finding more in the yard. Fortunately Big Sister helped her out in the hunt! She did, however, manage to take out time from her munching to pick up a few eggs, though she examined them closely. There were a few with little bugs on them that she wasn't too fond of - reminded me of an Easter egg hunt in my own past.... but I digress... As you can see, she opted to wear a long yellow dress for Easter, one of her favorites. She did get a couple new outfits from Daddy and Grandma and Grandpa Walters, and I tried to encourage her to wear them, but she wasn't interested. As usual, she knew exactly what she wanted. :)

Katherine's Hunt

Katherine was a bit more active in her hunt for Easter eggs than Sarah. The girls also got to choose their own outfits for the day. Katherine opted to wear the dress Grandma and Grandpa Walters sent to her, but we had to pair it with a pair of pants because the weather is so cool today. Here she is finding her goodies!

Happy Easter!

Hope your Easter is filled with God's grace, mercy, and love! Happy Easter, from our family to yours. God Bless!

Just More of the Same....

I was going through my pictures on the camera and the girls were sitting so nicely on the fireplace, so I snapped a quick shot of them. Fortunately, they were both facing the camera. Unfortunately, I have proof that my fireplace needs a good cleaning...

MORE Easter Goodies!

This Easter thing is pretty cool if you ask two little girls in this house... Katherine and Sarah got a package today from Grandma and Grandpa Walters! And what a fun package it was!! It was filled with all kinds of goodies - fun bath paints to roll on their arms and legs, M&Ms, fuzzy friends in their favorite colors (pink and purple, respectively), and new outfits!! Actually, they couldn't get their clothes off fast enough! As soon as they saw their new clothes, they were stripped down and begging to put them on. Here they are showing off their new fuzzy bunnies, new outfits, and Katherine's holding the card that was sent with the package (she LOVES cards). Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Walters! We love you!!

Easter Gifts from Gramps!

The girls received a large package in the mail yesterday from Gramps! It will filled with Easter goodies. At first I thought I might make them wait until Easter to open it, but almost as soon as I thought to do that, I changed my mind and let them have their gifts that day. While they were pulling out the newspaper that was used as packing material, they got to the bubble wrap. Instead of digging further for their actual gifts, they squealed delightfully, "BUBBLE WRAP!!!" and proceeded to jump on it! That was by far my favorite part! In the end, they both got a really fun basket of goodies filled with books and coloring projects and a princess doll! They also got a chalk set to share. Thank you Gramps! We love you!
