A Bite of This, A Bite of That...

Jeremy sent me an email today to tell me a story about the girls and their lunch from McDonalds yesterday. Additionally, he sent more pictures! And to let you know if you're not a big Spongebob Squarepants fan, a Krabby Patty is a cheeseburger. Here is what he wrote:
We went to McDonalds today for lunch. Katherine told me she wanted sauce, and not knowing or remembering she loves ranch, I ask for one of each. We get home and we have sweet and sour and BBQ. I take the tops off and set them next to each other next to the nuggets on her place mat. She proceeds to try a little dab on her finger from each one. She immediately comes to the decision she does not like the red sauce (BBQ). So with out hesitation I set it next to Sarah's nuggets and she asks "Daddy can I dip my fries in it?" I say sure. As she starts eating it, she loves it. We hear, roughly with each fry, "mmm that's tasty." It made me chuckle so I took some pictures. Then, I started eating my quarter pounder meal. Katherine looks at me and asks, "Daddy, can you tear off a big bite for me and one for you of your Krabby patty?" I think to myself, well duh!!!, you ask me so cute how could I refuse. There's the picture of her eating part of my Krabby patty.
Sarah was playing peek-a-boo under the bar stools so we got some good shots of that.

A Few More...

The girls are at Grandma and Grandpa Walters's house this Christmas, and I'm really hoping Daddy brings us pictures to post for everyone to see! In the meantime, here are just a few more pictures of Christmas with the family in Illinois!

Even MORE family pics...

Just more family pictures....

Just some family pictures....

Presents!

Katherine and Sarah were THRILLED by Santa's deliveries! Here they are discovering the cookies had been eaten and unwrapping their gifts. I do have to note that Katherine made the comment while opening a gift, "Mom, Santa is a pretty nice guy, huh?!?" :)

The Night Before Santa Comes...

We celebrated our Christmas a bit early, though it's taken me this long to get the pictures posted! The girls helped me make some yummy cookies for Santa to snack on while he delivered our presents. Here they are setting out their goodies (without clothes, of course, because that seems to be the trend in our house these days.....).

You Say TomatO, I say TomAto....

Yesterday the forecast called for a freezing rain/snow mix. We ran a few errands in the morning before the precipitation started, but once we got home, it was coming down a few minutes later. I said to the girls "Look at that freezing rain! It almost looks like snow doesn't it?? But it's really frozen rain." They watched for a few minutes, and then ran off to play.

About an hour later, we all sat down for lunch. A few minutes into lunch, Katherine says very excitedly, "Look at that freaking rain! Have you ever seen freaking rain before?!?" I reacted quite surprised, "WHAT did you just say?? Katherine, it's FREEZING rain, not freaking rain." To which she replied, "That's what I said Mom, freaking rain."

Oh boy....

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream...

....for ice cream! Sundays are usually our "McDonald" days...a treat for the girls to look forward to at the start of the week. However, I've been dealing with some pain in my tailbone, so instead of packing them into the car and making myself more uncomfortable, I asked Katherine and Sarah if they would like to help me MAKE a McDonald's dinner! So we made some french fries (just some baking potatoes, cut into strips, drizzled with olive oil, and sprinkled with salt and pepper), chicken nuggets (had some frozen strips that I just cut in half), and apple dippers (sliced apples with caramel sauce). But the best part was dessert! I made the girls their own HUGE ice cream sundaes (since this was our "Sunday" treat!)...they LOVED them. Ice cream, cool whip, marshmallows, nuts, m&ms, sprinkles, chocolate syrup! Here are some pictures of them enjoying the best part of their meal! Enjoy!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree...

Here is our lovely tree this year....we kept our decor pretty minimal this year, which has proven to be a good idea, because the girls want to touch everything. They love when I turn the lights on, gasping every time. Tonight we watched the cookie special on the food network; I let Katherine choose which cookies she wanted to make for Santa. Proving she is her mother's daughter, she opted for the cookies Paula Dean made...oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate...who doesn't love that??? :) So we have Santa's treats planned now. She did inform me, however, that he might not like regular milk, because "Mom, I think Santa likes chocolate milk with his cookies, don't you think?" She might be on to something....

Oh Katherine....

...Katherine always seems to make me laugh....she's so animated and curious and smart! Here are a few stories from the last couple days that just make me smile.

......Last night, I decided to make breakfast foods for dinner. I whipped up some pancakes, skillet potatoes, and scrambled eggs. To top it off, I even made some apple muffins for "dessert." I sat the food down on the table, called the girls in to eat, and got them situated in their chairs.
Katherine looked at her plate, looked at the food, looked at me...and then after what seemed to be a moment of confusion, said, "Mom...this is breakfast....at night....I don't think this is right." To which I replied, "Yep, sometimes we can have breakfast for supper." After thinking for a moment again, she asked, "So I can have chips for breakfast?"

......Tonight I had to make a trip to the grocery store for a few items. The girls have been into their dress up drawer a lot, so I decided I would meet halfway with their attire for the trip. They could wear a dress of my choosing with stockings, but I would let them choose their shoes. Sarah opted for her regular shoes. Katherine, on the other hand, chose black patent shoes with a rhinestone buckle. As we walked through the store, she made it a point to stop EVERYONE (yes, EVERYONE) and ask "Don't you just LOVE my shoes?!?" Of course everyone said "Yes" and she always replied with "Oh yes, everyone loves my shoes. They are beautiful, like me." (So modest) However...we came upon one gentleman, who looked a bit...cranky, shall we say? She treated him the same as the others, "Don't you just LOVE my shoes?!?" He looked at her, he looked at me, and then looking back to her, he said "They look like shoes to me." I said "Come on Katherine, we need to get moving baby." She was not satisfied with his answer and said (quite loudly) to me, "Mommy, that man was a crab, huh?" Needless to say, I made it a point to walk a bit faster down the aisle.

......Tonight I made some chili with 3 different beans. Katherine has taken an interest in cooking, even sits with me some afternoons when I have a moment and watches cooking shows with me. I let her assist me with dumping the beans from the can into the chili pot. We got to the kidney beans, and she said "Mom, I don't want to touch those." I asked her why not, and she said "They look like bugs." I said "Oh Katherine, they aren't bugs, they are beans, remember?" She responded "Oh yeah....okay."
About 15 minutes later, Sarah called from the living room, "Bug!!!!" (We have these little beetles outside, and one occasionally finds it's way inside). Katherine rushed in to check it out, saw the beetle, and said "Sarah, that's not a bug! That's just a bean!"

......I called Katherine in the dining room after dinner, as she left her shoes on the floor under the table. Her job is to put them away when she takes them off...and obviously didn't do it! So I said, "Katie, you know where your shoes go, can you please take them to the closet?" She looked at me with a rather irritated look on her face. I asked, "What is your problem little miss?" She said very sternly, "My name is NOT Katie Mom. My name is NOT Little Miss. My name is KATHERINE." She proceeded to pick up her shoes with one hand, put her hand on her hip with the other, and pranced off with a little sass in her step.

When left to her own devices....

....Katherine comes out looking like this! :) I told her she could dress however she wanted this afternoon, so she chose her FAVORITE dress (from Nana, ask her, she'll tell you!), and other items from her coveted dress up drawer. If you ask me, I think her look matched her personality quite well. :)

It's a Marshmallow World in the Winter...and in Katherine's shirt

A couple weeks ago I found some bargains while out shopping. Some fleeced-lined sweatshirts for the girls were a portion of my bargain finds, at under $3 per shirt. I picked up a few, thinking that they can wear them this year, and, because of the size, next year too.

This morning, I laid one out for Katherine to put on for the day, anxious to see if she would like it (she is, after all, picky about most things). After she slipped her arms through the sleeves, she said, quite surprised, "Ooooooh Mom! It feels like marshmallows in my shirt!"

Always clever....and ridiculously cute! :)

Right foot....then left foot...

Sarah has been Little Miss Independent lately, and putting her shoes on is a big "I want to do it myself" event. Often, I have to correct her, as she likes to put them on the wrong feet, but today she did quite well. Not to mention she even threw in a classic "silly" face. What a fun age!

Holiday Parade!

The girls, Nana, and I went to the holiday parade while we were at Nana and PaPa's house. It was COLD and starting to rain towards the end, but I was able to snap a few pictures of the girls. They gathered plenty of good eats and even a few cute stuffed animals! What fun!
